ATLANTIS RESORT & CASINO
NASSAU, BAHAMAS
The Atlantis is a globally recognized mixed use resort and casino located on Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas. The resort dominates the island's real estate and is a major contributor to the island's economy, employing some 6,000 residents. Atlantis was built by Kerzner International development company owned by Sol Kerzner.
Designed after the mythical Lost Continent of Atlantis, this resort expanded from a casino destination into a family destination by including vast water-park and marine-life attractions. Royal Towers embodies a full-blown expression of the Atlantis motif, a colossus formed of stone and held together by gigantic, weathered-bronze joints.
Atlantis facilities include three towers. The Royal Towers contains the Mandara Spa and Casino. Also adjacent are the marine-life exhibits, and The Dig, an underground web of mythological Atlantis "ruins" that contains huge windows offering underwater views of over 70,000 marine animals representing 250 species. Part of the water-park and marine-life Atlantis resort on Paradise Island, which connects by bridge to Nassau, these three coral-colored towers containing 693 rooms are near the water-sports lagoon.
